Meet The Dive Team – Steve Scerri

Since we’re quite busy for the Summer months, we always have a large number of instructors on hand. We thought it would be fun for both our staff and to ask them a few questions about themselves….

First up is Steve Scerri who is a dedicated diving instructor at our centre. Loyal not only through the Summer months but has been here for the better part of 6 years, through all seasons!

Who are you? And what do you do?

My name is Steve Scerri  and I am a staff instructor at Divewise.

When did you start Diving?

I started back in 2009. Been diving ever since!

What made you start diving?

A challenge with my friends and curiosity about sea dwelling creatures and wrecks.

Where and when was your last logged dive/dive related experience?

It was 5th July, 2016, I was wreck diving at the Um El Faroud in Zurrieq. Beautiful!

Dive goals and what’s the next course you want to do and why?

I’d like to do my Master Instructor & EFR Instructor Trainer. To learn more, help in IDC and improve my diving skills.

What keeps you diving and how do you keep the passion?

Gas in the cylinders! 🙂 oh, and wrecks and caves…

Favourite Dive Site?

Mmmm…I’d have to say the Southwald, Polynesian and the Um El Faroud in Zurrieq.

What’s your favourite wreck in Malta?

Southwald, Poly and Um El Faroud.

Favourite piece of Diving Equipment and why?

I think I’ll go with the Rebreather for long dives because it’s silent and makes no bubbles.Oh…and the pee valve!

Give us a sentence about you and diving

If diving is fun, silent diving is even better. So keep updated, keep being curious about nature and enjoy the beautiful marine life to be able to learn more about it.

He’s one heck of an instructor! Fancy coming for a dive while on holiday here in Malta? Well…. this way you already got a feel of some of the staff! 🙂

If you feel you want to know more about the wrecks found in Malta, we explain it all here. Head to our website for inquiries and bookings.
